Time just had a great big article on how to end poverty. There is a reason that many people 3rd world countries are living on less than a dollar a day and it has nothing to do with corrupt politicians or stupid people. It has more to do with lack of resources and lack of access to the rest of the world.
I remember a while back my dad wrote about the Bush administration forcing Iraqi farmers to use Monsanto seeds. Perhaps they had good intentions, but bad actions. It seems better seeds, better fertilizer (if any), and better farming practices could do a lot to bring many of the most poor people in the world our of abject poverty. At the very least they might be able to feed themselves.
Perhaps someone told the white house that the farmers there needed better seeds and stuff to keep them viable. Then the white house said sure sounds good make it happen. Then someone decided the Iraqi farmers wouldn't pay the extra money for the seeds so they would simply force them to buy seeds. And to make things eay they would simply sell seeds from one company.
I'm suppose to put up some pictures. Dad remembered to bring the camera, but he forgot to bring the cords to hook it to the computer. So I'll put up some old pictures that you haven't seen yet.
Actually the way this thing works you've already seen the pictures I think.
